Just a quick message wishing everyone a very happy Halloween, even to those who have awful circumstances right now. I hope that you kick that bitch of a storm in the face and salvage some happiness to celebrate Halloween and just have a brilliant night. I send big wishes out that you do and for those who live in places where Halloween isn't usually celebrated hope you find a way to celebrate and just have some fun!!!
I can't do much else for my dongle has little data (and that sounds so wrong in my head), so I'm off for a very sober but fun Halloween with my Danny and a stack of films...who knows we may even get some sweetie treats if we're good enough.
Hope you all have a brilliant night!

Pumpkin Murdering 2012
"This is Halloween, this is Halloween, pumpkins scream in the dead of night!"
Happy nearly Halloween everyone!!!
Hope you're all excited and enjoying the Holiday.
Sadly this year I'm not going to any parties or doing any dress up but I do plan on sitting in watching Nightmare Before Christmas and Sleepy Hollow with my boyfriend, a huge pile a chocolate and our pumpkins sending warmy glow vibes to us. Oh yeah, pumpkins!!! =) I'm so friggin' excited about our pumpkins, me and Danny decided to carve them last night and they look amazing. Last year was my first pumpkin ever and we carved a basic Jack Skeleton. Which I fell in love with, but this year I wanted different. This year I wanted a challenge. So this time I got up the ol' Google Images and sifted through pages and pages of pumpkins and found a Frankenstein and his Bride that I fell in love with. So Danny drew them out by hand on the pumpkins and we hacked like crazy pumpkin murderers into the dead of night.
My beautiful babies.
Any of you got some pumpkins carved, send me a link I'd love to look at them.

Cherry Neko Saved The World!
Those of you who have excellent peepers may have noticed that there has been some changes around here. Alas Cherry Neko is no longer a superhero. The world has been saved. The bad guys have been defeated, so Cherry Neko Saves the World has been laid to rest, her little cape and bootsies have been placed in a museum for all to look at and I'm hoping that memorials all over the world will be built in her honour.
However, Cherry Neko is not dead! Far from it.
I'm still here to blog and nothing will change about that.
I hope you all like it?
In the meantime remember I'm now cherrybombdeluxe.blogsot.co.uk.

It's a dark morning...bliss!
I love it when it's all winter like, I especially love dark mornings. They always seem more peaceful than bright sunny mornings that harshly wake you up and then force you to look at the busy morning world. Dark mornings encourage you to snuggle back into bed, they offer you warm drinks and don't try and blind you. Ah, I am happy.
It seems that I didn't get a third post up yesterday, that really is a shame but it was a little ambitious of me to think so. There was work to be done for the site, I had dad's shopping to do and appointments all over the place before family came down. So I was curled up in bed falling asleep while me and Danny watched Stan Lee With Great Power. At least I'm posting today though.
I'm really happy to say that I did start writing yesterday, got 11 pages down so I'm very happy, hopefully I'll keep it up.
Oh yes, yesterday morning I woke up to find one of my Christmas presents from my sister had arrived ~dances~ but sadly it's got to go back ~sad dance~. It was meant to come with a strap and it didn't, but the girl who emailed me back was lovely so it didn't bother me so much. So now I have to send it back and wait for a new one to be mailed out.

So now I must play the waiting game!
I also got myself two pumpkins yesterday out of the last of my money, so I'm looking forward to pulling their guts out.
I'm off to make a cup of tea and grab some breakfast. Good morning world!

Look at me, I must be getting back on form. 2 posts in 2 days! But hey, you guys are worth it.
Today unfortunately has been peppered with sadness, a very close family friend died, one I consider to be more like an uncle than just a friend of the family. He was my dad's best friend since school. A long, long time ago. As sad as it is, I truthfully can't help but feel a little relieved for him. He's not been very well for a few weeks now and I can only hope that there was no pain for him at the end. Of course I had a good cry into Danny, but Charlie was such a happy guy (admittedly he loved to have a moan, but it was part of his charm so we forgive him haha) and I just know that moping around for him would probably piss him off, so today I'm thinking of all the good memories. My teddy bear, Snowmeltasourass (who he gave to me when I fell sick a few years ago) will always be a reminder of all kindness he had in his heart.
So with that being said I think I shall focus on happy things now, like all the blog reading I've been doing. Seriously it's taken up most of the day, but I've enjoyed every minute of it!
Of course it's distracted me from what I was meant to be doing today...work!!! Okay, technically not work as it's fun and I don't get paid, but still I think it's a cause for a dramatic sound effect or two. You see even though I sadly felt I had to finish writing about my self it seems the urge to write is never too far from me.
For years I've been telling my boyfriend Danny to follow one of his dreams of running a website and a few months ago he finally got his act together and built one up. A constant work in progress but all sites have to have training wheels for a while right? So I started writing for his site, The Gaming Reel, a site for game and movie reviews and bits of news too. There's only a few of us doing it in spare time so not as much content as we want to get up there one day but still it's been really fun to do. It encouraged me to do something on some of my darker days.
I'm also thinking more and more about writing a novel, one I've wanted to do for years and I figured seen as I seem to be writing again maybe it's time to give that a whirl.
Right I'm off to break diet rules and eat a cheeseburger and watch the next ep of Ben and Kate. Seriously sucked into it, who knows maybe I'll sit down tonight and start some writing. Any tips, words of advice or a nudge of encouragement are always welcome.
Do you think I'll make it to post #3? I really, I really hope so!

Chowing down on the cereal of life!
Hello world!
Cherry Neko here and I just want to say "HELLO!"
Yes, I'm alive. I may have disappeared for a while there but I promise I'm still here. Truthfully I'm not sorry, so I won't apologize, I needed to vanish from the world of blogging for some time. Not going to lie, I was getting near breaking point, I tried my hardest to put on a brave face but the idea of writing anything on my blog gave me a sense of dread and I really didn't want to write anything down. My life felt like a cereal box where I was promised a prize and every time I got close to it another scoop of cereal was chucked on top until the box was so full it was about to explode. Life got bad and I really wasn't me. But magically about a week ago someone came along and turned the box of cereal upside down and I got my prize!!! I have no idea if any of that made sense but I couldn't think of any other way to put it.
Life's still not perfect, but I'm getting there and it's really nice to know that people I've never met still care so thank you to those people, those little sentences mean more than you know.
It seems easier to write about what's going on in my little world again. Who knows, maybe I'll be back to my old self sooner than I think. For anyone reading this, thanks for sticking around, thanks for giving this a read. Hopefully I'll beat my problems soon, in the face...with a shovel. In the mean time I'm going to try and get back into writing and hopefully back to nosing at your wonderful worlds.

See this...it's my determined face!
I don't actually have a picture of my determined face, mainly because every time I try to take one I look more and more like an old man trying to suck a toffee. It's not a good look for a 25 year old girl, so you should just all imagine a very determined face, my determined face.
Yes, the past few months have been really bad for me. And yes, this means blogging has taken a bit of a sit back for me, but that's not because I don't enjoy it. I love blogging. I get down because I'm not sometimes but when I get upset I find it really hard to write, and I personally don't think reading a blog about all the bad stuff that's going on with me is going to be fun for anyone. So I'd apologize for not keeping on top of it, but I'm not sorry. I sometimes feel guilty that I haven't but I started blogging for some fun, and when it feels like it's a chore it's no longer fun. So while I'm still sick I won't be posting as much but that don't mean I don't love you guys just that I need some me time for now. So please don't give up on the blog, and check back time from time, I'm not disappearing.
Now what does determined face have to do with me time? I'll tell you. The Avengers, and how bad I need to go and see that film. I'm such a huge geek, and I am a huge Whedonista (a female fan of the Whedonverse a.k.a. a Joss Whedon fan). So it is natural that for months and months and months and so on and so on, that I have been desperate to go and see Avengers Assemble. I have missed my one of best friends 2 engagement parties, not been able to see another one of my best friend while she's not well either, was sick for my two year anniversary of being together with Danny as well as missing my own Birthday pretty much. Oooh which reminds me I should post photies of awesome presents at some point, So my determined face is kicking in. I will not miss this film. I will not miss Hulk smash. I will not miss Thor throw his mighty hammer and I will not miss Iron Man be insanely cool. Captain America I'm not too bothered about, but hey I guess he's cute. He's got that going for him haha.
So I am making a promise to my self, and giving a huge middle finger to some certain doctors for certain reasons, in a few weeks time I will be the happiest Cherry Neko of all time bouncing around like a loon like the pretend superhero I am.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to the box of chocolate in the corner of my room. It needs to see my determined face before I nom it down.

It's raining so I'm smiling!
Yay! I'm so happy, I've been listening to the rain all night long. I love the rain, I even love being outside in it. Oh yeah, I'm just that hardcore. Wellies are for whimps!!! Although I really like wellies too, I just wanted to seem tough haha.
How are you all, people from around the world? Got much rain at the minute?
The sad thing is, I can't really go out in in that much. Once again disaster has struck Cherry Neko. I think I may be cursed. But I've been trying my hardest not to let it get to me. What's the disaster this time? Meteorite heading for earth? Dracula risen from his grave? Nope. Nothing as fun as that. This time comes in the form of crutches. Urgh! I hate crutches. I do not have the ability to balance in normal day life never mind with crutches. Last Monday I was whisked away to A&E by my boyfriend after complaining that my foot was hurting all weekend. By Monday morning it had ballooned up and it impossible to stand on. So to the hospital I was dragged, I had to stand on my bad foot for a few hours while I waited to be seen, X-Rayed and told that I have extra bones in my foot and they'e become inflamed. So how do I fix this? Apparently, I don't. I was told to I had to deal with it until it goes down and to take plenty of pain killers and use the dreaded crutches.
So needless to say I've been a little immobile and loopy of drugs (the legal kind of course). This also meant that I didn't get to see Cabin in the Woods last week, and I was absolutely gutted. Danny has promised that when it comes out and I'm better he'll take me to see it. Whenever it's advertised on TV I yell t the screen like some crazed woman, "it's mocking me!" Oh well. Hopefully I'll get to see it soon. Unless I fall to some other ancient curse and end up waking up a Mummy or something. If I do, I hope it's from the Universal Monster era. That's when monsters rocked!
I didn't let it wreck my Easter either. In fact, I gotta say I was a little spoilt on Easter and Danny brought me a huge Cadbury egg. Along with the ones from my parents and my sister. I got a good haul. Eating a Cadbury Roses egg as I type nom nom nom. Been catching up on my Netflix too. Watched Supersize Me, and I found it really interesting. I just couldn't believe the effects of one month of McDonalds could do to a person. I also just finished Trekkies. Didn't enjoy that as much, I'm not a Trekkie myself, and though I don't judge people who are, I felt that there was something missing from the documentary and I just can't place it. Plus a lot of the editing was terrible. Now to spend the day watching cheesy horrors and such.

Cabin in the Woods
I won 2 free tickets to an early screening of Cabin in the Woods on April 2nd.
I'm so excited to see this film since it first got mentioned.
Haven't seen a decent horror for a while, so hopefully this will make up for the dreadful of Paranormal Activity 3. I swear it was just Demon Eye for the Straight Guy. If he doesn't like a lamp he'll just blow it up, if he doesn't like the table he'll just stick it to the ceiling. The worse thing is I now have to watch the fourth one just to see what the hell is actually going on. The first film was brilliant, and I even liked the second one. Number 3 you have let me down.
Any way Cabin in the Woods = Hopefully good (I'm relying on you Whedon).
Also if you're a fan of Repo! The Genetic Opera, well the guys behind this magical piece of musical genius have a new film coming out, The Devil's Carnival. I tend to hate musicals. Only three have ever made it into my best films of all time category: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sweeney Todd and Repo! The Genetic Opera. So The Devil's Carnival will have to work hard to get my approval. However in the talented hands of Terrence Zdunich and Darren Lynn Bousman I'm sure I'm going to fall in love again. Here's the trailer for those interested.

There's blood in the tub...oh wait it's just hair dye.
Yep. I have once again dyed my hair. I've gone from purple and blue back to red. Gotta say missed it too. I know I kind of cheat on this one because my natural colour is ginger, so going red is just like a blonde person dying their hair even blonder. Oh well, I love it. I've missed having bright red hair. Although saying that I'm already looking forward to going back to dark green. It's not like I can't, I can always return but for now I am once again a full fledged red head.
I really haven't been up to much since my last post. I went to the pub with my 2 best friends and Danny the other night. It was so much fun. It's a pub we often end up at, usually filled with students and old people a like and a lot of rock music. Danny took control of the jukebox towards the end of the night so we had some brilliant tunes blasting out, but the best was when I heard Ozzy's voice blasting through the speakers. I'd been singing War Pigs all week since finally purchasing Gears of War 3 and my wonderful boyfriend had obviously noticed and popped it on for me. I even had a sneaky drink, even though I'm not meant too, but hey I've been sick for a very long time you got to be naughty every now and then right. Plus strawberry cider is soooooo nice.
I also went for a day out in Manchester with Danny. We spent the whole day shopping, it was such a good day. I brought some clothes and the tastiest cookie ever! I was really shocked to see a Taco Bell, I've never seen one in England. I didn't have anything from it, but just seeing it was enough to make me smile. Then I got home, after finally being allowed out for more than half an hour before feeling sick, I was expecting consequences. I knew that's I'd be really tired and start to feel sick again but I couldn't understand why my right ankle was hurting so bad. Then we discovered I had somehow at some point sprained it without knowing. I really do know how to do things awkwardly. At least I got my day out and at least I got to sing War Pigs really loudly before my banishment to my bedroom once again.
So I'm once again stuck into a big pile of books, which I'm kind of happy about. I can finally do some catching up on my reads.
Wishing you all a happy awesome day, and I demand that you go and put on one of your favourite songs on and blast it!
The ginger Thor obviously laughed so much her eyes squinted during photo opportunities.

You missed me and you know it! Hahaha =)
Hello blogging world!!! ~hugs her blogging friends through weird computer wirey ways~
I'm sorry I've been M.I.A. for so long, nearly 4 months now. Wow. That is long. In a very non end-of-the-world-way I've not been having the greatest time the past few months and I don't want to bore you with sob-fest details. A lot of big problems the size of Godzilla thought it would be fun to see how far they could kick me down, I'm pretty sure they came with their very own badly dubbed laughter. Evil, evil problems. However, they forgot, I'm a super-hero. I save the world, it's in my blog title (okay I know I'm not really a super-hero and half the time I'm lucky if I remember to recycle but it fits in with the story, so just go with it please). These evil Godzilla sized problems forgot that every decent super-hero finds a way back, even the Dark Knight must return, and so did I. So know I'm battling these problems with iron fists and witty quips and hopefully during the breaks I'm going to pop back onto my blog space and blog away.
So hello, I've got a few minutes spare before I have to go and be super and stuff.
How is everyone? Hope you've all been good and behaved. Oh who am I kidding, I hope some of you have behaved, I know the rest of you won't. That's why I love you.
I wish I had exciting things to tell you, but I don't. Life really hasn't moved beyond the four walls of my bedroom much for the past few months, I could tell you about the exciting adventures of Ezio, Cole MacGrath and Marcus Fenix but they're just computer game characters. There's been some Deadpool reading, film watching and book reading but nothing too exciting. I'm hoping that will all change soon and I will have many wacky stories to tell you but for now I'll stare out at the cloudy sky and daydream about saving the world...then I'll make a tea watch some comic-book men, followed by A Nightmare on Elm Street then some more gaming.
Hopefully back for a long time,
I'm sorry I've been M.I.A. for so long, nearly 4 months now. No post title, just smiles
Hello world!
I do plan on writing a proper blog post about all the awesome things that I've been doing this last week (okay, not many awesome things, but I do promise a proper post soon). Instead I just thought I'd post something that made me giggle uncontrollably last night and hopefully spread smiles across the world.
He is our new saviour, the Dark Pug!
He will be the hero we need him to be.
I'm hoping that you guys out there are all smiling, and if not, then think of something that does make you smile right...now!
See, made ya smile.

Halloween fun!!!
A very happy un-Halloween to you! The countdown to next year has begun, and don't tell me your not excited.
I had a brilliant Halloween this year.
This was the first year I had a pumpkin thanks to my wonderful boyfriend. I had so much fun carving it, and a lot of fun pulling out its guts!!! I loved my little Jack Skeleton, but sadly he's rotted now and living in the bin. I miss you first pumpkin. There is a photo but it's on Danny's phone so I have to wait for him to come down to get it.
First time for a few years I was able to go out and it was so much fun. Like I said before my bestie threw a late Halloween party this year. I dressed as a rockabilly zombie, although I'm so bloody pale you can barely tell I was pale grey. But it was fun to put on. The party was so much fun and I made Sian's Braain cakes, and I suggest you try them all too. Fun to make, and even funnier to eat. It's hilarious watching people squirm while they eat them. I've had demand for more. Though I think I'm going to mix it up next time and make dead brains, making the icing grey and the jam green. Thanks for the cake idea Sian!!! You, my dear, rock!
For the actual Halloween I stayed in Danny's and he told me he had some surprises for me. I sat in bed got all snuggled up warm with a big bag of sweeties and he put some surprise films and DVD's on. The first I as very pleased with because it was Nightmare Before Christmas, I've watched it every year for as long as I can remember on Halloween and on Christmas Eve. It's become tradition, and he remembered so kudos to him. Then we watched the Psych vampire special...possibly one of the funniest episodes of anything I have ever seen. Lestat and Blackula should become a crime-fighting team. Then I finally started the Walking Dead. Such a brilliant episode, I'm finishing the first series tomorrow, I can't wait. He topped it all off with something that made jump with joy, and earns him a Best Boyfriend Award. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Halloween episode. It's my favourite episode, and the fact he knew that was brilliant. So it was a brilliant Halloween. I hope everyone else had a really good Halloween too!!!

Listen to them - the children of the night, what music they make.
~Said in a very embarrassing Backstreet Boys song voice~ Oh my God, I'm back again!
Don't judge me on my voice, and don't judge me on my song choi...who am I kidding, where on earth did that come from!?!
Oh, who the hell cares! It's Halloween Eve Eve Eve! And what a very important Friday it is for most people out there on this planet called Earth. People preparing busily for their Halloween parties for this weekend. Making sure you've got enough candy/sweets to give to enough children this weekend and... well, doing other things for the build up the Holiday of the year, HALLOWEEN!!!
Is anybody else getting excited?
So far today I've gone shopping with my boyfriend, if we didn't go today then the shelves would be bare all week because the shelves in the shops would be empty. The supermarket was packed! So it was good job we went today.
I'm really lucky, I've been well enough lately to actually get excited about Halloween. The past two years have been hard for me on Halloween, but this year I plan to go all out. Well-ish. My best friend 5 Apples (nicknamed after the height of Hello Kitty) is throwing her annual Halloween party. Although she only decided to throw it this year a few days ago. so every bodies been rushing around looking for last minute costume ideas. I'm excited about mine. I'm dressing as a rockabilly pin up zombie girl, though I won't be able to paint my whole arms and that, but hey I'll make it work. Danny's costume is particularly epic, but I'm not allowed to say what it is. I'm sure there will be photo's.
Speaking of costumes and photo's, everyone should go and check out Justine's blog party, she has some rather amusing photographs of her friends of the blogging world in their costumes. I was invited but unfortunately all my photo's involve me in my more wild child ways, I'm either drunk, pulling obscene gestures or wearing some very unlady like things. So I'm routing through the depths of mum's photograph cupboard. There has to be one of me in my more tame Cherry ways haha.
Well today I've spent most of the day making Brain cakes, thanks to Sian's wonderful Zombie blog post. I'm in the middle of making them waiting for them to cool down but I can't wait to finish them and eat them all up. So thank you Sian, and your wonderful blogging ways! I will be sure to post photo's too.
Also tonight, for the first time in my little Cherry life, I'm going to carve a pumpkin. I've never done it before, and Danny has insisted that this year I have to do one with him. I'm sooooo excited. I want to make a Jack Skeleton one.
I hope everyone's as excited as me. Let me know what you're up too!!!
p.s. I love my post title!

Cherry Neko (The Zombie Years...volume three; anime)
I am so excited about the next instalment of the Zombie Years. I'm a huge Japan fan (I've even started learning Japanese, one day I will go there and I will know what people are saying!), and I have a special spot in my heart for anime and manga. Since I was a tiddly tot people have often said I belong in anime and manga. Apparently who I am, is a perfect anime character. Smiles all around. Anyway I've recently discovered Highschool of the Dead and I think its fair to say (barring any Ghibli's) that it's my favourite anime...ever!
It's brilliant. The zombies are eerie and the storyline is amazing (I'm only half way through the first season but I can already tell I'm going to love it. Although there is a slight drawback, it's kinda got its pervy moments. A lot if knickers and bra's and boob jiggle noises. Even the opening scene, is loaded with them and some very naughty pictures. But if you can bare to sit through the tons and tons of pointless knicker shots. It's not porn/Hentai but sometimes the images definitely come across that way. So this show is not for anyone who is easily offended by these things (please remember that its mainly high school girls knickers and bras, and there's the obviously naughty stances etc) do not watch this series. The story is brilliant. A group of teenagers and their ditzy school nurse try to escape school during a zombie invasion, that seems to be taking over the world. (I'm looking forward to watching episode six, I have to wait till the weekend though which means I have a sad face). The story really will keep you on the edge of the seat, and theme song will have you bopping along with it in no time. The characters are a real joy to watch develop, and the script is amazing. I won't post a trailer for it because I don't want people to become offended, so go and check it out for yourselves if you want.

Cherry Neko (The Zombie Years...volume two; Video Games)
Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm actually a bit of a video game nut, and whenever I have some spare moneyz I do tend to go and buy myself a new game (or buy my boyfriend one just so I can play it). I like video games. I like zombies. You combine the two? You get a very happy, bouncy and crazed zombie killing Cherry. I'm also a huge co op gaming fan (not so much online), there's just something that makes me smile when I'm sitting down Danny or my friends and laughing, it's so much fun.
I was going to nominate something else originally as my favourite zombie game, but then the other day I tried out a new game and have decided I love it far much more. Borderlands is one of my favourite games of all time, and it had some downloadable content that I finally purchased the other day and it's a download pack called The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (which I think is a reference to The Island of Dr. Moreau). The story is brilliant, and funny. Dr. Ned, who is basically a side character (Dr. Zed) in the Borderlands game with a fake moustache, accidentally has created zombies, and then when trying to find the antidote has ended up creating wereskags (there version of werewolves) instead. Oh dear. The game itself is really fun, having a very old school horror film vibe to it. Even though the colours can be bright and acidy, there's a hint of classic that keeps it from tiliting overboard. There's tons of film references that just make me smile so much, even a Scooby Doo reference (Harry, Skaggy and the Misery Machine). The zombies run, and they can surround you quite quickly but that's all part of the fun. If your in the mood for some zombie gaming fun I highly recommend this download pack, and if your in the mood for a good game I recommend Borderlands too.

Cherry Neko (The Zombie Years...volume one; music)
Here it is, the first of my zombie posts. Aren't you all lucky? I ran through songs and songs and then some more songs trying to find out what my favourite zombie song is. I had The Misfits, The Creepshow, Schoolyard Heroes and Zombina and te Skeletones to name a few. But my chosen zombie song of the day is from Jonathan Coulton. I love this guy, his songs are so epic. I first found out about him through my favourite video game of all time, Portal. He wrote the credit song at the end, and bam, it was love.
So here you go, hope this song helps you to understand zombies a little better.
Minion of Misery
I have very good news, I have been chosen. I know, it's exciting to know your Cherry Neko is a chosen one. But the real question is, will she use this power for good or evil. After all even villains think they're saving the world...and I bet they like cupcakes too. Wait. I've got this wrong. It doesn't mean I've got superpowers, but it does mean that Little Gothic Horrors has named me as a Minion of Misery. I suppose that's just as good and it means I don't have to get out of bed to do it.
So here it goes, Minion of Misery Cherry Neko, REPORTING FOR DUTY!
So here it goes, Minion of Misery Cherry Neko, REPORTING FOR DUTY!
My favourite dark book.
I should choose something like The Picture of Dorian Gray or Interview with a Vampire because these are two of my favourite dark books of all time. But I am drawn to another book today. Simply because I've recently read the latest instalment and then started from the beginning again. The wonderful, the funny and genuinely original Skulduggery Pleasant. I'm choosing the whole series though. Skulduggery Pleasant has recently knocked Anne Rice's the Vampire Chronicles of the top as my favourite book series of all time, and Skulduggery's also easily become on of my favourite characters of all time. It's a book aimed at teenagers and young adults, but it is "dark".
"You're still upset about that time I made you explode, aren't you? I can tell."
The main character, Skulduggery is a detective who just seems to belong in an old detective movie. He as wit a that pours through every sentence that comes through his mouth, a quick trigger finger and a slight temper that goes with it. Plus as everyone who's ever heard the name Skulduggery knows, he is one dangerous man...skeleton. Just don't get on his bad side.
What makes the book series dark though? It's the characters. A bespoke tailor who knows how to box, but Ghastly Bespoke is more known for the terrible scarring all over his body that he has because of a curse. Then there's Doctor Nye (a really eerie character that doesn't show up until book 5), it (never a she or he) is a very tall thing with really long limbs, dead like skin and a huge scab for a nose. It works in the underworld with an apprentice (the headless horseman). The horseman travels dead bodies between the two realms and ensures that Doctor Nye never tries to escape. Doctor Nye, spends its days cutting up the bodies of the dead and removing organs to try and find out, just what a soul looks like. There's a scary seen when he does this to one of the main characters while they're still alive.
There's also more classic style characters, like the Necromancers (a religion that live in temples and would rather study how to become immortal, than fight), then there's the vampires. These vampires don't sparkle. They don't just fall in love and become the sweetest creatures in the world. These vampire's shed their human skin at dust to become pale hairless "animals", and they have a blood lust that would rival even most vampires I read about. There is one vampire who tries to fight the disease because he loves anoter character, but this love is not a whiney emo love that tends to literature today, its basically stalking and obsessive. The zombies are briliant too. They're not like your typical zombies, once they're awaken from the dead they can pretty much hold up a normal conversation al long as they don't eat flesh (that's when they become mindless zombies), but they do still decay after death at a slightly slower rate than the dead. Ok I've prattled on enough, people should just read it, then come and tell me.
My favourite dark movie.
I'm a huge fan of film (I majored in film studies all those years ago), so choosing one film is pretty damn hard. I love all films (well most), from all decades. I love Nosferatu (1922), and the Universal Monsters have always managed to put a smile on my face, then there's Dracula (funny Buffy version, Gary Oldman being a nice piece of eye candy and an awesome actor, and then there's Christopher Lee (in Hammer we Trust). There's classic Hitchcock, and weird Lynch, there's Wes Craven and Carpenter. Gah! Choosing is hard. So I'm choosing this, simply because I've just watched "Wishful Thinking" (mmmm Supernatural) and I'm in the mood for more Raimi. The Evil Dead. Ah, Bruce. Ah, Sam Raimi. Ah, crazy demonic antics. The films terrible. It's shot on 16mm camera, which is then expanded so much it becomes grainy (to 35mm I think?), the actors are basically college friends and the budget was a measly $400, 000. Which is not a lot for a film. However, none of that matters. It's the fact it's so terrible that is makes it amazing. Somehow, Sam Raimi made what should have a been a film so terrible it should barely be watchable and turned it into something so amazing it's considered art. It truly is art in my eyes. He hits every beat perfectly, and throws in so much gore it could make Eli Roth blush. Forget the Splat Pack of horror directors, he is the splat master. He took a simple concept such as reading from a book and bringing the dead back to life into something new.
Romero may have pretty much invented the genre, but it's Raimi who twisted it into something new. I love The Evil Dead can you tell? Just be glad I talked about evil dead you could have easily had a 10,000 word essay on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and why we should all bow down to Whedon lol.
My dark secret.
This is sooooo tough, because I really can't think of any dark secrets. In fact I can't think of any secrets. Although, when I used to work in a certain place, there was some I used to mini-hitler. She was a horrible, horrible person, who had no respect for anyone, except those who she could brown nose to. She pretty much believed that the place would fall apart if she wasn't there. Now I'm not a horrible person, but I'm not a people person either. I just don't like people who aren't respectful, and those people certainly don't get my respect. (It sounds like a gangster thing haha). Any way one day I was really ill (I think I had the flu), and the only reason I came in was because a friend asked me to come in for an hour then I could leave. So I plucked up the spirit downed a lot of lucazade and lemsip and went in, only problem is half way through I started to vomit. So I asked mini-Hitler to leave, she said no and tried to make me stay the whole shift. So when she went on her break I decided to go home (with or without her permision). I was in the bathroom when she walked in, she left her coffee on the window ledge (who does that any way ew), so while she was on the loo I may have spat in her coffee with my horrible after vomit spit. I hate it when people spit, especially when they do it on other people. It makes me sick thinking about it. But I still think se deserved it. That's what she gets for judging me on how I look and not who I am.
There we go, my dark choosing's. I know it's a lengthy one, but there you have it. I hope you enjoyed reading it, now it's my turn to choose some Minions of Misery of my own mwahahaha
